Thank you for taking time out to join us in the Eastern Community Health Outreach (ECHO) Programme.
Heart disease, stroke and cancer make up more than 50 % of the causes of deaths in Singapore. Obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol are all major predisposing factors to these diseases that we hope to address through the ECHO Programme. Major studies have now shown that effective lifestyle intervention may reduce the onset of these chronic diseases such as diabetes by as much as 58%. The ECHO Programme started in 2011 with the aim of early detection and prevention or delay the onset of these chronic diseases. The ECHO Programme consists of health screenings, workshops and community based activities organized by our experienced team of CGH specialists, dietitians, physiotherapists, as well as the Grassroots Organisations and community partners. In addition, our website and quarterly newsletter contain many useful health information, articles and tips for a healthy lifestyle. ECHO believes in a family and community focused approach to lifestyle changes and we encourage you and your family’s active participation in these activities which have been designed specifically to meet your needs.
We look forward to meeting you and welcome your active feedback and suggestions on how we can improve this programme further to benefit your community. Let’s make our community healthier together!
